Ladies Bible Study

The Ladies Bible Study meets at the church every other Monday at 7:30 pm. This year the Ladies are studying the Gospel of John. All the ladies of the church and community are invited to join us as we examine the teaching, life, death and resurrection of the one who [i]n the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:1-3

Men’s Bible Study

The Men’s Bible study meets at the church every other Thursday at 8:00 pm. This year the Men are studying the Heidelberg Catechism (1563), one of our church’s doctrinal standards. Now you might wonder: why would we spend time in a Bible study examining man’s fallible words about God’s infallible Word? There are many ways we could answer this question, but one might be: why wouldn’t we use the wisdom of the past to help guide our understanding of God’s Word? Is it wise to study the Bible (or anything else for that matter) by oneself or should we listen to others who are wiser and have given thought to the matter before us? It should be obvious that the latter is the better approach.

Furthermore, the Catechism does not try to merely explain or defend certain doctrines or beliefs of particular churches. In fact, it explains the meaning of the biblical gospel (the biblical message of the church, as per the ancient summary of the Apostle’s Creed), the meaning of the Ten Commandments (the biblical standard of living for the church) and the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer (the biblical form of prayer).

So yes, join us this year as we study God’s Word as assisted by the Heidelberg. We hope to see you there!
